Faroe Islands War Memorial
We are live!
Thanks very much to everyone and anyone who is accessing our new site, please have a rummage around and find out all about who we are, what we are doing and why it is important to us to commemorate and celebrate the role the Faroe Islands played in the Second World War.
This project isn't just about us - it's about anyone who has a story to tell about the period between 1940 and 1945 when the Faroes were occupied by the British. If you have a tale to tell, please share it with our Facebook group (Faroe Islands War Memorial Community) which has been specially set up for this purpose. We look forward to reading about any memories your family members may have talked about.
We are very excited to announce the launch of our search for a design that we can commission and ultimately place at the National Memorial Arboretum in the UK, ensuring that the Faroe Islands' contribution to the War Effort will be honored forever. If you are an artist and would like to submit a design, please have a look at the 'Submissions' page on this website to see the criteria and to be inspired by the location.
